Open Mic at Fuddruckers - Second Tuesday

Second Tuesday

SDBS sponsors a local jam session, open mic & pick-up bands every second Tuesday at the Fuddruckers in Grossmont Center in La Mesa. Open mic and pick-up bands play from 6:30 to 9:00 pm, and this evening also features a popular informal jamming session, outside on the patio. If you want to perform, sign up in advance by sending an email to openmic@sandiegobluegrass.org, or sign up on site, space permitting.

Third Monday Instructed Slow Jam!

SDBS sponsors an instructed slow jam on the 3rd Monday of every month. It is held at the Our Savior Lutheran Church at the corner of Lincoln and Ohio in North Park (4011 Ohio St, San Diego, CA 92104). The sessions are an hour and a half structured slow jam learning experience from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm led by SDBS Board President Mary Jane Cupp and special guest teachers, with guidance from music teacher Janet Beazley. The fee is $5 per session for SDBS members and $10 for non-members (you can join SDBS on site). For more information on the slow jam (photo below), or to sign up, email Mary Jane.

Fourth Tuesday

On the fourth Tuesday of every month, SDBS presents a featured band, a top local or regional band in concert for one hour, at The Boll Weevil Restaurant. The schedule for Fourth Tuesday is open mic & pickup bands from 6:30 to 8:00 pm; featured band from 8:00-9:00pm. Sign-up for open mic by email at info@sandiegobluegrass.org. Informal jamming throughout the evening also takes place outside.

Sign up here for open mic at one of SDBS's regular Tuesday events. Public welcome, but please bring your bluegrass material. These are open mics for acoustic music honoring the bluegrass genre. 10-20 minute slots, or shorter, are available. Sign up in advance by email for priority, or space permitting, sign up on site.

Held once a month on Sunday afternoon from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. If you have an item you would like to bring to the Board, or if you would like to attend a Board meeting, please send an email to SDBS at SDBS info  - visitors are welcome.

SDBS Special Events

SDBS presents a variety of special concerts and events throughout the year, including: Bluegrass Day at the Fair (San Diego County Fair, Sunday June 10, 2018, 11 am to 8 pm on the Paddock Stage; the Summergrass festival (3rd weekend in August--download the 2018 flyer here), occasional campouts, plus periodic concerts of nationally recognized touring bands. SDBS also co-sponsors or supports many bluegrass-related events, including the Santee Wine & Bluegrass Festival, concerts at Acoustic Music San Diego, & the Belly Up; a series of performances at County and City libraries, and the "Bluegrass & Beyond" concerts at the Del Mar Powerhouse, sponsored by the Del Mar Foundation.

SDBS Bluegrass in the Libraries Series

SDBS and the County of San Diego library system produce a series of Bluegrass in the Libraries concerts. The City of San Diego library system also schedules an occassional concert with SDBS. These concerts are free to the public.
